I wanted to look into some simple ways I could try to reduce my carbon foot print in my day to day life and thought I would share my findings with you. This will not only make the way we live a little bit greener but it will also save us money so it’s a win win situation! We might think they are insignificant switches but if everyone did them they would make a huge difference to our precious planet.
Let’s try to:
Turn down the thermostat on heating and on water. Just one degree can make a big difference
Make sure the house is well insulated
Make sure radiators aren’t blocked by furniture or curtains
Use energy saving lightbulbs
Turn appliances off at the switch rather than on standby
Turn lights off when not needed
Only fill the kettle up with the water we need
Use a clothes lime in the summer rather than a tumble dryer
Turn off taps and showers when not using immediately
Opt for online bills or correspondence rather than paper ones
Walk to work or school whenever possible
Take public transport where possible
Fly less
Let’s try to make this world and our children’s futures a greener, cleaner space
